Airtight doors in the new Maternity and Infant Unit (IMU)
El Pilar Hospital, inaugurated in 1963 in Guatemala City, was established with the objective of offering personalised health services, focused on providing wellness and quality professional care to its patients.
In 2015, the hospital expanded its services with the creation of the Mother and Infant Unit (MIU), introducing an innovative concept compared to traditional medical institutions in the area of maternal and child care.
The MIU is recognised nationally and internationally as the best in Guatemala, which in addition to having excellent and recognised specialists, integrates advanced technology exclusively for the unit's use into its diagnostics and care resources.
Hermetic Doors for Obstetric Operating Theatres
The MIU features two operating theatres exclusively for obstetrics procedures, carefully designed and equipped with advanced technology and meeting strict hygiene standards, thus avoiding the risk of contamination for both mother and baby, as well as for the medical team attending them.
These operating theatres ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby during surgical interventions such as caesarean sections and other gynaecological surgeries. The automatic opening and closing of the doors reduces the need for physical contact, minimising the risk of cross-contamination.
These operating theatres have hermetic sliding doors in HPL finish, which include a vision panel, allowing the interior to be observed from the outside, ensuring rigorous and continuous control during operations. The vision panel flush with the surface facilitates cleaning and disinfection.
With these facilities, El Pilar Hospital has consolidated its position as a benchmark in specialised and safe care for mothers and infants.
