Automatic and airtight doors in the Rementería Ophthalmology Clinic
Clínica Rementería is a medical centre located in the centre of Madrid, specialised in eye health and surgery. With 25 years of experience and a team of experts in all specialties of ophthalmology, the clinic stands out for its innovative character, oriented towards personalised and comprehensive visual health solutions, and its facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In such a specialised environment, the installation of automatic doors must meet demanding standards of safety, hygiene, and functionality to guarantee the best service to patients and professionals.
The institution needed to install automatic doors in different areas of the clinic: the cabinets, the access to the corridor leading to the cabinets, and the operating theatres. The doors had to meet the requirements of a state-of-the-art ophthalmology centre and match the technology of the facility. At the same time, they had to respond to the specific features of each of the spaces, such as airtightness and privacy in the cabinets and operating theatres, and the signage at the access to the corridor.
In the cabinets, Manusa installed side-opening telescopic doors, which optimise access when space is a limiting factor. In order to maintain the privacy of the people, the door surfaces were covered with translucent vinyl that favour the passage of light, preventing exposure to the outside of those who are inside the room. Moreover, the doors were equipped with the Manusa Optima Prox+ proximity sensor, which was installed both inside and outside each cabinet. This sensor allows to open the automatic door just by bringing the hand closer, without any physical contact, which favours the aseptic conditions of a clinic.
The cabinets are located along a corridor, the access to which was solved by installing an automatic side-opening door. The door is made of transparent glass, but to maintain the privacy of the cabinet area, its central part was also covered with translucent vinyl. In addition, the same vinyl was used as an informative signage element for the area to which the door with the text gives access, the surgical area.
As for the operating theatres, to regulate access and maintain aseptic conditions, airtight sliding doors were also installed, with perimeter sealing after closing and Optima Prox+ proximity sensors for contactless opening.
In addition, these doors were fitted with a finger grip pull handle, both on the inside and outside, to ensure safety by allowing manual opening in case of an emergency.
Unlike the automatic doors in the cabinets, those installed in the operating theatres were given a customised finish in High-Pressure Laminate (HPL). If stainless steel is the first choice in the health sector to facilitate hygiene and insulation, HPL is a more economical material, less dense, less sensitive to notches and scratches, and it can be applied in a wide range of colours, which allows integrating the doors to the design of the space and the corporate identity. In this sense, Manusa offers the option of customising the colour of the surfaces of all its airtight doors for better integration with the aesthetics of the space.
The installation of Manusa automatic doors in the Rementería Clinic contributes to the commitment to innovation and excellence in ophthalmological care. Thanks to solutions adapted to each space, it has been possible to improve accessibility, privacy, and hygiene conditions for both patients and the professional team.
