Installation of leaded doors at Awali Hospital

Sanitary

Awali is a small municipality in the centre of the Kingdom of Bahrain, founded in 1930 by Bapco (Bahrain Petroleum Company) to be inhabited mainly by refinery workers on Sitrah Island.

The hospital was established in 1937 to serve both Bapco employees and their families, but over the years it has also catered to the needs of members of the local community, who have benefited from the range of affordable but professional services supported by a team of highly qualified doctors, surgeons and healthcare staff.

Over the years and to this day, the hospital has evolved and expanded into a modern facility that is at the forefront of the latest trends in healthcare to suit the developing community.

Thanks to the cooperation with our official partner ‘Paradise Door’, a total of 11 hermetic doors, both standard and leaded, were installed.

Leaded Doors: Safety without Sacrificing Patient Comfort

The leaded hermetic doors were installed to allow access to different rooms which, due to the particularity of the tests performed in them, require this type of solution: MRI rooms, mammography, ultrasound, X-ray rooms, and tomography and bone density examination rooms.

They have vision panels that feature electro-polarised glass, which safeguards the patient's privacy throughout the testing process. The door does not need to be opened manually thanks to the proximity sensor but, if necessary, it can be opened using a recessed handle. In addition, LED strips have been installed at the top, these light up in a certain colour to indicate whether the room is free or occupied.
