Automatic Platform Screen Doors in PSD Thessaloniki (Greece)
Every day, millions of people around the world choose to leave their private vehicles parked at home and take public transport to get to the office, to visit family or friends, or to shop in a shop. Safer urban transport is being implemented in more and more cities and is reflected in more modern buses or train and metro carriages, with technological innovation and an extensive mobility network on the map.
One of Manusa's emblematic projects was carried out in Thessaloniki Metro (Greece). There, automatic platform screen doors were installed within the project for the extension of the metro in this important Greek port city. Specifically, Manusa designed and manufactured 80 doors that were installed along the ten platforms distributed in five stations.
In addition to these, more than 320 emergency folding doors were also installed along the different platforms that alternate with the automatic doors. The windows have a protective film on the platform side to protect them from scratches or vandalism.
The presence of Manusa automatic doors in the Thessaloniki metro brings the stations to the forefront of the 21st century and brings them up to the level of quality, innovation and development of other European subway networks. The platform closure doors guarantee the safety and well-being of the passengers.
These accesses are synchronised with the metro carriages, so that when the metro arrives or starts its journey, the doors open and close automatically, preventing incidents such as people or objects falling onto the tracks, being run over or paralysing the normal operation of the Thessaloniki metro.
