The Jaume III El Corte Inglés Store
Shopping centres play a major role in today's lifestyle. Much of the activity of the urban population revolves around the purchase of goods of all kinds, and this often takes place in large stores.
One of our projects was carried out at El Corte Inglés in Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands (Spain). It is a department store that sells, among other things, clothing of all kinds, jewellery and watches, household products, books, sports accessories, and technological products.
There we installed automatic sliding doors with a panic break-out mechanism. Thanks to these doors, an elegant and comfortable entrance is created for users, who can access the building without having to open and close the doors themselves. In addition, thanks to their high speed, the access only remains open for the minimum time necessary, avoiding unnecessary air conditioning leaks and optimising the energy efficiency of the building.
In order to guarantee the maximum security of the facilities in any circumstance, these intelligent accesses were equipped with the Manusa break-out system, which allows the doors to be opened manually at any time. This enables the doors to open fully to allow people to pass through in the event of an evacuation, maximising the space available to achieve the greatest possible flow of people in the event of an emergency.
These standard automatic sliding doors eliminate any architectural barriers and allow the smooth passage of people in wheelchairs, pushing a pushchair or shopping trolley. It also facilitates the transit of people leaving with their hands full of bags of freshly purchased goods.
