Installation of automatic doors at the Sants - Eixample Funeral Home

As part of the refurbishment of an industrial building located on the border between the districts of Sants and Eixample, in Barcelona, to convert it into a modern mortuary, Manusa has carried out the installation of automatic doors at the main entrance of the building.

This project is part of a broader intervention that includes the recovery of the old Germans Climent factory, a historic space built in 1925 that was designed by the modernist architect Modest Feu i Estrada, and which now houses one of the most accessible and modern morgues in Barcelona.

Increased functionality and accessibility thanks to automatic doors

This noucentista-style industrial building needed a renovation that would respect its heritage value and at the same time improve the accessibility and functionality of the space. As a building listed as part of the city's cultural heritage, the intervention had to be respectful of the original elements, such as the unique roof of metal trusses and wooden joists. At the same time, a modern and functional access was needed that would allow a fluid access without architectural barriers.

That is why Manusa manufactures, designs and installs automatic sliding doors with central opening and fixed leaves. Some of them provide an efficient and elegant access from the street, and others, after a small hall, give access to the main entrance hall of the mortuary. These doors allow a fluid entrance and exit, an essential aspect in a place where there is constant traffic of people. Furthermore, in our design we respected the aesthetics of the historic building to the maximum, integrating the automatic doors with the historic essence of the building.

Smooth passage in a high traffic building

Throughout the year, funeral parlours receive a large number of people who come to say goodbye to their loved ones in an atmosphere of respect and solemnity. Every day, these facilities welcome groups of different sizes, from families to close friends, creating a constant dynamic of arrivals and departures.
