Installation of automatic hermetic doors at Homerton Hospital ICU
The extension and refurbishment of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in London, England, gave us the opportunity to be involved in a key project within the healthcare sector. In collaboration with our distributor Axis Entrace Systems, we installed six hermetic double leaf automatic sliding doors with integrated blinds, contributing to the creation of a quieter and more functional environment for patients and medical staff.
The project was part of a comprehensive refurbishment led by Hunters Architects and construction company Quinn London, which sought to incorporate six new isolation boxes, as well as improving storage areas, family spaces and simulation areas. All this while facing challenges such as space constraints and the need to work in close proximity to working clinical areas.
Innovative solutions for a demanding hospital environment
To meet the demanding requirements of this environment, we installed these six doors and several glazed panels. These automatic doors, designed specifically for healthcare environments, offer airtightness thanks to a perimeter seal that ensures pressure, hygiene, temperature and humidity control.
Safety was also a key factor in this healthcare project, as our solutions feature obstacle detection systems, automatic re-opening and manual release in the event of a power failure. In addition, they are equipped with tempered glass incorporating horizontal and numerical vinyls to indicate the room number, ensuring their integration within the overall aesthetics of the hospital.
A project that improves hygiene and accessibility
The new ICU spaces offer improved hygiene against viruses and bacteria thanks to the hermetic properties of the installed doors, and the feeling of spaciousness and light from the corridor has also been enhanced thanks to the glazed doors.
This project at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a good example of how our automatic doors adapt to the specific challenges and needs of the healthcare sector, helping to create safer and more accessible spaces for everyone.
