Renovation of the Cardiology Ward in Vall d'Hebron
Inaugurated in 1955, the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital is the most important hospital complex in Catalonia, and one of the main referral hospitals in Spain. It is a health campus that encompasses all areas of health: support, research, teaching and management.
In order to continue making progress in their treatment and to offer 360° care to patients with cardiac pathology, the hospital has carried out a comprehensive refurbishment of the ninth floor to house the new Heart Unit. This project is complemented by the renovation of three haemodynamic rooms located on the ground floor, as they need to be close to the accident and emergency department.
The comprehensive refurbishment of the Heart Unit covers more than 1,400 square metres. It integrates latest-technology equipment, the Cardiology Critical Care Unit, and a Cardiology Day Hospital, as well as echocardiography rooms to carry out tests of the highest complexity.
Person-Centred Care
Manusa participated in this project with the installation of standard automatic single slide opening doors without fixed leaf to facilitate the access to different areas, such as the day hospital, as well as in the rooms where echocardiography tests were carried out.
The Cardiac Critical Care Unit consists of ten single rooms for critically ill patients and five double rooms for semi-critical patients.
Glass hermetic doors were installed for accessing these individual rooms, which were vinyl coated in the middle of the glass with an opaque strip to maintain patient privacy, as well as to display room numbers.
The spaces on the new cardiology ward are designed to ensure that excellence in the treatment and care of patients goes hand in hand with maximising comfort during their stay at the Hospital.
